Main Features:

  • Outdoor Splash Pad
  • Colourful Wetpour Surface
  • Natural Theme

Existing Site

The current site had an outdated splash pad with worn and aged wetpour.

Design

The design was created to encourage role-playing within the splash pad, giving it a new sense of life and incorporating a natural theme. The vibrant wetpour design featured elements like long grasses, reeds, fish, dragonflies, and lily pads to jump along, enhancing the interactive experience.

Construction Phase

During the construction phase of the Hersham Recreation Ground Splash Pad project, the following steps were carried out to ensure a smooth and successful installation:

  1. Strip Existing Surface: The existing surface was carefully removed and collected by a specialist EPDM recycling company. This ensured that the old material was disposed of responsibly and in an environmentally friendly manner.

  2. Clean and Prime Subsurface: Once the old surface was removed, the subsurface was thoroughly cleaned to remove any debris, dirt, or contaminants. Afterward, it was primed to create the optimal base for the new surface, ensuring better adhesion and longevity of the materials to be installed.

  3. Supply and Lay EPDM Rubber Safety Surface: We supplied and laid a 15mm layer of EPDM rubber safety surface, following the design specifications provided. This durable, non-slip surface was installed to meet safety standards while providing an attractive and functional finish for the splash pad area.

  4. EPDM Rubber with Aliphatic Binder: The EPDM rubber surface was applied with an Aliphatic binder, which was chosen specifically for its UV stability. This ensured the surface would retain its colour and structural integrity under sunlight exposure, offering a long-lasting and low-maintenance solution for the splash pad.

  5. Refurbish Jet Nozzles: The jet nozzles that were part of the splash pad were removed, refurbished, and restored to ensure optimal functionality. The refurbishment process included cleaning, repairing, and testing each nozzle to ensure that all water features worked effectively, providing an engaging experience for users.

These steps were part of a comprehensive approach to upgrading the splash pad, ensuring a safe, functional, and visually appealing water play area for the community.
