Existing Site

The site prior to our works was an existing splash pad. The area once was a paddling pool that had been upgraded to a splash pad. The existing splash pad kept breaking down, so the local council were looking for a brand new concept, a hybrid between the two as many missed the paddling pool.

Design

Our design is a vibrant and unique addition to the area, bringing colour and energy to the space while creating a safe, fun environment for water play. The splash pad features a blue foam-tiled surface with a green border, enhancing visibility while blending with the surroundings.

This hybrid design combines a splash pad with a paddling pool, where water from interactive features flows into a controlled-depth pool. Slow-release and overflow drains maintain the water level while ensuring easy drainage for maintenance.

Instead of traditional wetpour, we have used Gomy Floor Tiles, specifically designed for aquatic environments. These colourful, patterned tiles offer a longer-lasting and more effective solution for splash pad safety and performance.

Rumble strips have been added around the splash pad’s edge to enhance accessibility for visually impaired users.

We included Two soft hopscotch tiles for additional play value in the surrounding area to add something for everyone.

This project is more than just a splash pad—it’s an innovative, hybrid water play area designed for fun, accessibility, and sustainability. By repurposing the existing site, we’ve created a dynamic, water-efficient space that minimizes environmental impact while maximizing user enjoyment.

Post-Completion & Safety Inspection

Upon completion, we conducted a thorough independent play inspection to identify and address any potential safety risks and ensure the area conforms to EN 1176/77 Playground standards.
