Existing Site

The previous site featured an aging splash pad, a water play area designed for recreation and enjoyment. However, after years of service, the splash pad had reached the end of its functional lifespan, prompting the need for a replacement or major renovation.

Design

We’re excited to present the revitalized splash pad, offering an engaging experience for all ages. The centrepiece is a dynamic racecourse track, activated by a central post, featuring challenges like Water Fence Sprays, in-ground features, and Hedge Hurdles with sprays. Children can leap through these hurdles, surrounded by vibrant flower panels, and race to the finish line under the Sprinkle Shower. After the race, visitors can climb the Grandstand podium for a photo opportunity, with a stunning view of the Jumping Horse, a bespoke structure with arching water sprays and the park’s name engraved.

For those seeking a relaxing experience, the paddock walk offers a tranquil stroll, with the playful Apple Tree Tipping Buckets adding fun for older children. A safe river area for toddlers features the Weir Gate and Freddy Frog, a playful character perfect for exploration. This new splash pad not only revitalizes the space but celebrates the history of Pershore Racecourse, with potential educational additions to share the park's heritage.

Construction Phase

The construction of the new splash pad involved careful planning to ensure functionality, durability, and minimal disruption to the surrounding environment. The process began with site preparation, where a temporary roadway protected the landscaping while the old splash pad was removed. The site was then re-levelled to create a smooth, accessible surface, followed by the installation of perimeter kerbs, a drainage system, and utility connections for water and electrical features. Foundation anchors were placed, and a concrete surface was poured to provide a solid base for the play area.

Once the structure was in place, pathways were resurfaced using tarmac and resin-bound gravel, and Bowtop fencing was added for safety. A plant room was constructed to house the equipment for water circulation and filtration. Finally, the splash pad was finished with a wetpour surface for safety, and interactive water features were installed and tested to ensure they functioned properly, creating a fun and engaging environment for visitors.

Post-Completion & Safety Inspection

Upon completion, we conducted a thorough independent play inspection to identify and address any potential safety risks and ensure the area conforms to EN 1176/77 Playground standards.
